Overview:
We are seeking a highly analytical, proactive, and meticulous Server Management Specialist to oversee and optimize our critical server infrastructure This ongoing role involves comprehensive management, continuous monitoring, and diligent maintenance to ensure maximum uptime, optimal performance, and robust security for our on-premises and potentially cloud-based servers.
- Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain various types of server hardware and software, ensuring optimal functionality and integrity across our IT environment.
- Provide essential infrastructure services across a range of domains, including storage networking, operating system management (Windows and Linux environments), network security, directory services (e.g., Active Directory), and server virtualization using technologies like VMware and Hyper-V.
- Implement, continuously monitor, and manage robust backup and recovery options to guarantee data accessibility, integrity, and swift restoration in the event of incidents.
- Perform regular maintenance activities, daily audits, and performance optimization tasks for data centers and individual servers to ensure peak efficiency and prevent issues.
- Diagnose and resolve complex server, network, and end-user issues promptly and efficiently, minimizing disruption to operations.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for server and network topology, detailed configurations, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for routine tasks.
- Proactively monitor server resources (CPU load, memory consumption, disk space usage) and network performance in real-time, identifying and diagnosing potential problems before they escalate.
- Configure, test, and maintain local area network (LAN) equipment and services, including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN connections.
- Be available for after-hours upgrades, critical troubleshooting, and on-call support as needed to maintain system availability.
- Collaborate effectively with third-party vendors and internal IT teams, acting as a liaison when required.
- Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent extensive practical experience).
- Proven work experience of 5+ years as a System Administrator or Server Administrator in an enterprise environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in managing both Windows and Linux servers.
- Strong familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Solid foundational knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
- Experience with scripting and automation for routine administrative tasks.
